Butler Cultural District Presents Butler Magic: A Silent Film Adventure Celebrating Butler’s History, Arts, and Culture

Inspired by the classic silent films of the 1920s, Butler Magic follows a young man who discovers a mysterious charm in an antique shop and is unexpectedly transported back to Butler in 1926. Along the way, he encounters local landmarks, theatrical adventures, romance, and a touch of magic as he searches for a way home.

Filmed at locations throughout Butler County, the production showcases the community’s rich history and artistic heritage while paying tribute to the golden age of silent cinema.

Adding to the authentic silent-film experience, Butler Magic will be underscored live by members of the Butler County Symphony Orchestra, bringing the story to life through music just as audiences would have experienced silent films a century ago.

The film features a cast of local performers and community members and was created by Hobnob Theatre Company as part of Butler’s 250th Steeples and Stacks celebration.

Butler Magic will be screened at the historic Penn Theatre on Saturday, July 11, with showings at 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m.

Audiences of all ages are invited to experience this charming, family-friendly adventure that celebrates Butler’s history, creativity, and enduring spirit.
